Honda Associates expects the Chinese auto market
25th February 2011

ales showing no signs of slowing, research firm J.D. Power and Associates expects the Chinese auto market to crest the 18 million unit mark by the end of the year.
According to J.D. Power’s latest sales forecast, the Chinese auto market will account for 18 million new car sales this year – representing a 30 percent increase from the year prior. That total includes medium and heavy-duty commercial trucks.
China’s October sales ballooned to 1.5 million units, representing an annualized rate of 19.2 million vehicles. October marked the first month China’s annualized sales rate have topped 19 million units.
Much of China’s recent growth has been attributed to government incentives. The government previously offered a tax break of 10 percent on vehicles with engines 1.6L or smaller, but reduced that rate to just 5 percent by the end ofthe year. However, the government increased that rate to 7.5 percent at the beginning of the year, resulting in stronger sales.
But most incentives are expected to end by the end of the year, prompting buyers to pull forward new car purchases. As a result, China’s sales growth will likely slow to 10.5 percent in 2011, but the world’s largestauto market will continue to ride its rapid growth for

eaming up with leading luxury automaker Lexus to raise monies for his foundation, The Rising Stars of America On Thursday, February 17th at 4 p.m., Davis will host The CT 200h Challenge at 1220 S. Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles. The Challenge will consist of a competitive race in Lexus CT 200h hybrid vehicles driven by Davis and his celebrity friends.
Presently, Davis is challenging fellow celebrities via his Twitter handle, @Baron_Davis, to race on a specially constructed obstacle course near the Staples Center. Celebrities from TV, film and sports will compete in the all-new CT 200h to achieve the fastest time. The winner will receive either a year lease of the CT 200h or have the opportunity to donate the le00 awarded to Davis for each celebrity who participates in the competition. RSOA is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 that utilizes athletics, mentorship and positive role modeling to teach kids life skills as well as ethical and social values.
Celebrities who accept Davis’ challenge will be among the first to drive the all-new Lexus CT 200h. This sporty hybrid delivers a dynamic, fun-to-drive experience not seen in hybrids before. With four different drive modes, including Sport, Normal, ECO and an all-electric EV mode, the CT offers true personalization of the driving experience. While it features Lexus luxury throughout, it also leads the luxury class in fuel economy with a 42 mpg city/highway combined rating.
The CT 200h Challenge is open to the public. Lase of the vehicle to acharity of his or her

ally at Focus that is from Ford which is an electric car. The auto show which opened on Thursday to public has a lot of electric cars from manufacturers this year coinciding with president Obama’s dream of one million Electric Vehicles (
One of the attention grabber is from Ford which has unveiled the new electric version of the Focus hatchback. According to company, when it comes to regularly scheduled maintenance, the Ford Focus Electric will be the easiest car to own because the Focus Electric does not have a conventional piston engine or an automatic or manual transmission, its drivers will wave goodbye to such things as oil changes and tuneups – a scenario most other motorists can only dream of. “About all the driver will have to do is charge up the battery pack and go,” said Sherif Marakby, Ford’s director of electrification programs and engineering.
It was also reported that Focus Electric eliminates more than two dozen mechanical components that would normally require attention during the life of the vehicle. The dramatic reduction in moving mechanical parts is the key reason why consumers won’t have much to do to maintain the Focus Electric. “When you have moving parts, such as the gears in a transmission or the pistons in an engine, you have maintenance,” Marakby said. “With an electric drive, there are very few moving parts. And in the Focus Electric, the only moving parts are the motor and the wheels.”
According to reports, over the life of the car, Focus Electric drivers also won’t need to spend time and money to replace five air filters, have two cooling system flushes, or get one transmission service, replace one drive belt or even buy and install one new set of spark plugs. Regular maintenance for the Focus Electric will consist of little more than checking the air pressure in the tires and keeping the windshield wiper reservoir topped up. Longer term, the car’s brake pads and shocks may need replacing, along with tires.
It was also mentioned that Ford’s aggressive strategy includes the launch of five new electrified vehicles in North America by 2012 and Europe by 2013. In addition to Focus Electric, Ford launched the Transit Connect Electric small commercial van in 2010 and will introduce C-MAX Hybrid, a second next-generati

as been producing amazing roadsters for more than 75 years (the Z4 being a notable example of thisyou’d expect it to know a thing or two when it comes to creating drop-top two-seaters. And despite its usual high standards, Beemer has truly surpassed itself with its latest roadster creation, the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept car. Groundbreaking is not the word!
This stunning concept car, which is set to be uncovered at the Geneva Motor Show, incorporates a layering principal in its design, claimed to “demonstrate the bond between the driver, passenger, vehicle and the surrounding environment”.
Alert! This is where it gets technical: the Vision ConnectedDrive’s interior is split into several layers. The first is safety-focused, with a red light that surrounds thedriver and comes together in a cone shape on the bonnet. This is said to represent the “flow of safety-specific information and the driver’s focus on the road ahead”. Still with us? Then we shall proceed…
BMW Futuristic Roadster ConceptThe second layer – outlined by a blue ribbon of light – envelops the safety layer and passenger area, promoting “active social exchangement between thedriver and passenger”. “Exchangement”? Anyway. Meanwhile, the third and final layer, which is identified by a green light (seen in the picture above), focuses on the interaction of the Vision ConnectedDrive with the surrounding environment. Got all of that? Good!
To be honest, putting all of that technical jargon stuff to one side (and yes, it went over our heads as well), Beemer couldn’t go wrong if it decided to use the Vision ConnectedDrive as a blueprint for its next

Unfortunately, the upgrades on the 2011 Honda Accord coupe and sedan are a little more sedate than we expected. There’s no six-speed transmission as we had hope. Instead, Honda changed the gearing of the five-speed automatic to improve mileage. The four-cylinder models are now expected to get EPA ratings of 23 city and 34 highway mpg when equipped with the automatic transmission. The V6 automatic is expected to get 19 city and 30 highway mpg.
That’s pretty much it for mechanical upgrades. The rest of the 2011 Accord’s changes are styling updates on the exterior and some minor changes to the interior. On the outside there’s a new grille, revised bumper, updated wheel design and a new trunk lid. Interior upgrades include shift paddles for V6 coupes and USB ports on all coupes and some sedans.
